Photographic darkrooms still prove to be magnificent caves of mystery for three photographic artists – Amy Finkelstein, Tatiana Gulenkina (MICA ’11), and Kei Ito (MICA ’16) – who are connected through their use of chromogenic printing. The dialogue between these artists’ work describes how process is critical to form. Here, thelanguage of optical photographic exposures on paper, speak of experimentation, technical exactitude, and unique ways of utilizing non-digital photographic materials. Within this experiential topography, these artists draw on such concepts as personal history and bodilyrhythms, the intuitive states of the creative process, and the choreography of creation in artmaking.
Show runs June 25 to August 6, 2015
Sponsored in part by the Baltimore Gallery Network, Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts, and M&T Bank.
