Askepios Galgalim

August 5, 2016 @ 7:00 PM - September 28, 2016 @ 5:00 PM

Asklepios Galgalim, new work by Hunter Stabler ’03 will run from August 5th – August 28th at The Satellite Gallery, 55 Broadway, Asheville, North Carolina. It will be Stabler’s premiere North Carolina exhibition. The exhibition will be a large survey of 2 dimensional work from the past several years, primarily in hand-cut paper. The work ranges in subject matter from the formally abstract, to the intricately decorative, from esoteric symbolism to conspiracies involving CIA mind control and flying saucers. The title of the exhibition is derived from Asclepius, the Greek god of healing and medicine who wields a serpent entwined staff, eerily similar in appearance to our modern day models of DNA, and the hebrew “Galgalim” which means “wheels” and historically refers to the wheels of flying chariots used to transport beings from earth to the heavens and back. There will be an opening reception fro 7pm-10pm on Friday August 5th.
